The new service model will enable referrals to be made to the service much quicker, this will ensure that victims can access support when they most need it which will help to ensure their safety and well-being as well as helping to support the Authority In the past ten years partners across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough have worked together to enable a proactive support offer to local victims of domestic abuse assessed as at ‘medium risk’ of harm via the Domestic Abuse, Stalking and ‘Honour’-Based Abuse (DASH) risk identification checklist and the more recent Domestic Abuse Risk Assessment (DARA) policing tool. After discussions between the Police and Crime Commissioner, Darryl Preston, and co-commissioners from the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Partnership it was agreed to review the provision of support for this cohort of victims. The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (“OPCC”) worked in partnership with the local authority, Constabulary and a local specialist provider to develop and mobilise a pilot support model for one year during 2025-26. The current one-year pilot is embryonic, with the model evolving through service delivery learning, and reflections from directly involved partners and those with a vested interest in VAWG. This, along with effective monitoring, stakeholder engagement work and service user feedback, has influenced the revised service specification.
