Tender description

NICE’s is a designated body for medical revalidation for the medical practitioners it employs. NICE will support every doctor it employs, who wishes to continue to be licensed to practise, to achieve revalidation. To support revalidation NICE will help them to meet their professional commitments by facilitating an annual medical appraisal that complies with the professional standards set out by the GMC’s Good Medical Practice, the Royal Colleges and the Department of Health and Social Care. NICE is the currently the designated body for 6 doctors. However, only those doctors that require a licence to practice for their role at NICE are included in the appraisal contract. This means that currently only 5 doctors with a prescribed connection to NICE need appraisals under this contract, as of 31 May 2025. It is therefore anticipated that a maximum of 8 doctors will need appraisals under this contract in any appraisal year. Current anticipated schedule of appraisals per year - January (1), February (1), April (1), August (1), August (1), December (1). NICE is inviting applications from providers of medical appraisals to deliver the required number of appraisals for the doctors it employs for a 3-year period. (It is anticipated that the first appraisal under the contract will be in January 2026). Medical appraisals should be carried out in line with following national guidance: • Good Medical Practice (GMC, 2024) Other guidance may be added once published.
