One of the cylinders is dead at Bedford International Athletics Stadium (the heating bundle has a hole in it). This has been resulting in multiple pressure related failures of the boilers as the bundle is on the primary circuit. Most importantly, this means that at present site are recording temperatures below acceptable levels regards water hygiene. Officers have given advise that we should look to arrange the works as soon as possible to avoid risks with contaminated water at the site, which if left unresolved would require site closure. If the hot water temperatures are not maintained as per AcoP L8 (below excerpt) this will represent a serious H&S concerns. 59 The risk from exposure should normally be controlled by measures which do not allow the growth of legionella bacteria in the system and which reduce exposure to water droplets and aerosols. Precautions should, where appropriate, include the following: (a) avoiding water temperatures between 20 °C and 45 °C and conditions that favour the growth of legionella bacteria and other microorganisms
