Tender description
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) is one of the largest teaching hospital Trusts in England and the West Midlands, serving a regional, national, and international population. It includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Birmingham Chest Clinic, Good Hope Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital, and various Community Services. We also run several smaller satellite units, allowing people to be treated as close to home as possible. As an NHS organisation, UHB will see and treat more than 2.2 million people every year across our sites UHB currently employs over 25,000 members of staff and we are committed to investing in their development and their health and wellbeing. Health Innovation West Midlands (HIWM) is a licensed Health Innovation Network (HIN) hosted by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB). Focused on the West Midlands region HIWM leads and catalyses collaboration between academia, industry, health and care providers, commissioners, and citizens, to support continuous improvement of our region’s health and wealth. By giving patients access to the most effective medical discoveries the healthcare system can take advantage of innovations that can help to save time, money and lives bringing to the West Midlands the future of health and care, today. As a HIN we occupy a unique position between health and care providers (and commissioners), industry, and academia, with the ability to both support early innovations and then work at a national scale to spread innovation in practice. This Prior Information Notice (PIN) outlines the requirements for a Innovation Management Platform (IMP) solution to be managed by Health Innovation West Midlands and implemented in six Integrated Care Board (ICB) sites across the West Midlands region. We have identified a need for an Innovation Management platform to support NHS trusts by providing a software-based environment to create a structured way to gather, evaluate, implement and share innovative ideas. The platform should facilitate the ability to streamline the process from idea submission to benefit realisation and offer comprehensive visualisation and search tools.
