Experience Project - Award of Contract for Experience Newquay – Corporate Sponsorship Support/Cornwall Marine Network

Experience is a project that promotes Cornwall as a year-round destination. The project team at Cornwall Council is seeking to appoint an organisation, business or freelancer to support organisations and businesses successfully secure corporate sponsorship. The appointed supplier will initially deliver mentorship to four enterprises, supporting them in identifying where sponsorship is best suited, who best to approach and helping them develop a toolkit/pack. They will also run one open workshop for 15 to 20 participants. Experience uses targeted marketing campaigns to reposition towns in Cornwall, to make them year-round destinations, driving footfall to town centres in the low season, ensuring a resilient visitor economy. The programme also seeks to attract visitors to less well-known locations, to evenly distribute visitors across Cornwall during peak season, away from the traditional honey pot areas, to alleviate some of the pressures of mass-tourism on local communities and the environment. The main objectives in Newquay are to preserve some of the learnings from the project to date and ensure they are adopted by local stakeholders. This includes developing a coherent calendar of events to attract visitors in the shoulder and low seasons. To ensure the long-term impact of the programme, it is crucial that event organisers become financially resilient and develop new avenues of income, including corporate sponsorship.
