Tender description

Queen's University is seeking to engage a professional contractor to execute a diverse array of fine art installation projects. These projects will encompass intricate gallery installations involving various media, including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed-media installations, as well as outdoor art installations. The Contractor will also be responsible for the careful hanging of paintings in prestigious locations such as the Great Hall, along with various university offices and other sites across the campus.<br /><br />In addition to these primary tasks, the contractor will be expected to undertake special projects on an ad hoc basis. These projects may include, but are not limited to, the following:<br /><br />• installation of banners on university buildings and the setup of complex artworks in various campus locations. <br />• fabricate plinths and other exhibition furniture (Requirements for exhibition furniture may vary between different projects and a full quotation will be sought in advance of each.)<br />• transport artworks both by hand and vehicle<br />• apply wall vinyl<br />• perform general maintenance tasks such as filling screw holes, painting small areas, and adjusting gallery lighting.<br /><br />The list of services is subject to change going forward throughout the Contract Period such as a change of requirement. Therefore, the Contractor will be required to offer a flexible and proactive approach and Queen’s reserves the right to add additional services as necessary.<br /><br />Queen’s has the right to add or remove any services from the list provided throughout the course of this contract and this cannot guarantee any level of service to the Contractor. <br /><br />Queen’s will endeavour to give sufficient notice to the successful Contractor for installation projects. However, there will be occasions when short-notice requests (24 hours) are given for time sensitive porjects. In these occasions, Queen’s will contact the Contractor as soon as possible to discuss the project and agree deadlines. The University will endeavour to keep these occasions to a minimum and work with the Contractor when they arise. <br /><br />If a short turnaround time is required and the Contractor cannot meet the deadline, they must be able to offer a contingency service to the University without delay. Should the Contractor not be able to provide a contingency service of at least the same standard, the University reserves the right to appoint their own Contractor to deliver the piece of work in question to meet the deadline.<br /><br />The successful Contractor will be reliable and flexible to meet the needs of the fluctuating business patterns and have the ability to react quickly and efficiently to short notices.<br />
