Geofencing Situational Awareness & Worksite Management - PIN

Tender description

To continue to enhance the safety environment for railway track workers, passengers and the public, Network Rail need to introduce technology which enhances safety controls and enables work to be undertaken more efficiently. Network Rail wish to use geofencing and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) enabled technology to provide live geospatial positioning and improve the performance of operations, with a focus on the following possession and worksite example use cases: • Virtual Worksite Marker Boards (WSMB) alert to Plant, Machines and Trains instead of placing physical WSMB. • Management of Trains into, through and out of a possession by showing where they are and being able to send clear instruction. • Identification of Possession Limit Boards (PLB’s) location via a tag. • Identification of WSMB location on a dashboard via a tag. • Reducing risk of “Objects left on the Line” by having tags located on trolleys. Ideally to be able to be used to reduce the need to apply the NR/L2/OHS/084 process. • Reducing Points Run Through by providing location alerts. • Mitigate Runaway Risk by informing the dashboard if a machine has moved without authority.
