Refurbishment of Fishing Vessel

Handa Isle Ltd. is seeking to award a contract for the refurbishment and modernisation of the fishing vessel Handa Isle. The “Handa Isle” is a twelve-metre fibreglass fishing vessel rigged with a vivier tank, built in 1989. The vessel model is Aquastar and is mainly used for crab fishing. It is powered by a 6lxdt Gardner engine It measures 11.7 metres in length with a breadth of 4.99 metres and a depth of 1.55 metres. It has a gross tonnage of 14.76 tonnes. The Vessel is to undergo an extensive refurbishment and modernization project commencing in June/July 2025 with a required completion date of end September 2025. This refurbishment will focus on bringing the vessel up to current levels of compliance with Health and Safety requirements and to improve the working conditions for the crew. Equally, it will focus on improving catch quality, traceability, and promoting selective fishing. Much of this work is eligible for grant aid under the BIM Small Scale Coastal Fishers Scheme (EMFAF) scheme and this tender is exclusively focused on that work.
