Music in Unexpected Places builds on the Philharmonia’s existing work as orchestra in residence. We will deliver a series of three public engagement events to support and celebrate local arts, culture, heritage and creativity in Bedford. Activities are designed to be accessible and aim to inspire new audiences of all ages. We will deliver three events in advance of the Philharmonia’s concert at the Bedford Corn Exchange on 12 March. 1. Public Performance Pop-UP & VR demonstration – Friday 1 March: A day of public performance engagements that showcases one of the pieces featured in Philharmonia’s concert at the Bedford Corn Exchange on 12 March. In addition, we will have a demonstration of our Virtual Reality (VR), giving the public a chance to experience ‘inside the orchestra’ through a VR headset. 2. ‘Music in unexpected places’– Saturday 2nd March: A mini road-show of public performances and interactive music making that takes a short presented performance of classical music into various locations around Bedford. This would be created in collaboration with Bedford Council and our Community Board to make it as impactful as possible, working with local businesses to host and create the space for the public performances to occur. This might mean opportunities for local businesses and services to attract new audiences/customers especially if this is part of a sustained campaign. This will be three trios of players each playing in three locations. 3. Interactive Insights ‘Exploring world famous music’ - Saturday 9th March: An interactive insights event at St Paul’s Church in Bedford that explores Beethoven 5.
