Management and Operation of Household Waste Recycling Centre, Stourbridge

Dudley MBC has one Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) located in Stourbridge, which is currently managed by external contractors. This contract expires on 30th September 2024. The HWRC receives 4655 visits by residents each week (approximately 246,700 each year) and operates an online booking system to manage site access and visitor flow. The centre deals with an estimated total tonnage throughput of 12,600 tonnes of municipal waste annually. Of this, around 8,284 tonnes were recycled and recovered in 2022/23 which gives a recycling rate of 65.8%.The Council is conducting a soft market engagement exercise to test the level of interest from potential contractors for the management and operation of the site over a 2 to 5 year period. Pre-Market Engagement will take place online via Teams on Monday 26th February, times to be allocated between 1:00pm - 5:00pm and Friday 1st March between 9:30am - 1:30pm.
