Recycling of Mechanical Sweeping Waste Contract 2024

Tender description

This contract concerns Mechanical Sweeping Waste arising during both routine and ad hoc mechanical sweeping activities that take place across South Gloucestershire Council's streets, parks footpaths, pedestrianised and similar areas. The composition of Mechanical Sweeping waste varies according to seasonality, annual holidays, local events and similar activities. Mechanical Sweeping Waste collected during autumn months contains increased levels of organic waste. Mechanical Sweeping Waste from high footfall areas such as central urban areas may have increased levels of items such as bottles, cans, other litter items, etc. within it. The Council operates two transfer stations, but anticipates only requiring collection from one of the sites (should the contractor collect the waste). Lot 1: An Above Threshold Open Tender process was undertaken. The Contract term advertised was 24 months. A total contract term if fully extended of 3 years. It was not appropriate to split this contract into Lots, because the requirement was relatively simple and alternative options are not required.
