Tender description

This is a procurement for technical requirements and criticality safety programmes to develop the GDF. Lot 1: The NWS criticality safety programme covers all materials currently considered in the inventory that may require disposal in any of the facilities (LLWR, GDF or other options). This includes low level waste (LLW), intermediate level waste (ILW), high level waste (HLW), spent fuels, uranium (particularly depleted, natural and low enriched uranium, DNLEU) and plutonium. NWS (and predecessor organisations) has commissioned a significant amount of work previously to build the knowledgebase in this area, again with a significant focus on the GDF disposal needs. However, the GDF programme is ongoing and continuous review and update of other disposal options is undertaken and therefore further criticality safety work will be required to continue to support the respective safety cases. To support the delivery of criticality safety scope, NWS wish to establish a contract for the provision of criticality safety services.
