Wipers Race Equality Training for Bedfordshire Youth Offending Service This training course is targeted towards prison and probation staff and aims to enhance awareness of unconscious bias within the context of the racial disproportionality and overrepresentation of Black and global majority people within the criminal justice system. The training is intended to increase understanding of this complex issue and explore strategies and techniques to reduce the potential for UB to impact practice adversely. This training course is part of our Courageous Conversations series, which is delivered in partnership with Action for Race Equality and funded by AB Charitable Trust. We examine the issue of racial disproportionality within the criminal justice system and explore how this growing disparity can be best addressed. Attendees will gain a greater understanding of what if any, distinct needs this group of young people has and how these can be met. It will also assist court officers with greater insight into applying practical approaches to reducing bias when writing PSRs and completing risk assessments for high-risk and complex service users. This is tailored to Criminal Justice interventions and therefore a specialist service.
