Highway verge and tree management is a key part of the Council’s duty to maintain safe highways. Westmorland and Furness Council requires up to a maximum of six Suppliers for the provision of services for tree maintenance, felling, storm damage and works identified from the ash die back surveys. Through the Framework the Council is seeking to have a clear impact on the Cumbrian economy through job creation, training and development opportunities and development of the local supply chain. If the Contracting Authority decides to enter into a Contract with the successful supplier, this does not mean that there is any guarantee of subsequent contracts being awarded. Any expenditure, work or effort undertaken prior to contract award is accordingly a matter solely for the commercial judgement of potential suppliers.
