Verge Maintenance in Westmorland and Furness

Westmorland and Furness Council requires Suppliers to provide an efficient and effective verge maintenance service to permit safe movement of traffic throughout the County and protect the integrity of the road network and ecology of the roadside environment. The Council operates a verge maintenance strategy designed to preserve / enhance the biodiversity of the roadside verges within the County. This entails routine cutting of a single swathe on most verges annually, and full width cutting on a two or four-year cycle depending on the category of verge. Westmorland and Furness Council requires up to two suppliers to deliver highway verge maintenance works. There will be two contracts that will cover two areas: • Lot 1 – Eden area • Lot 2 – South Lakeland and Barrow in Furness area The contracts are for 2 years plus 2 x 12 months.
