The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Its purpose is to build engagement and trust for the UK through the exchange of knowledge and ideas between people worldwide. It seeks to achieve its aims by working in education, science, governance, English and the arts. In 2013-14, its programmes reached a total audience of 600 million people worldwide and we engaged directly with 10.9 million. In 2013 to 2014, the British Council had a total turnover of £864million. Its income included a grant-aid of £165 million from the UK government, £573 million from fees and income from services such as English teaching, exams administration and £117 million from the management of client-funded contracts, and funding from a wide range of public and private sector partners. <br /><br />Taxis and Transportation Tender for Zimbabwe. <br /><br />Taxi and transport services are required to support the British Council Zimbabwe, operating through its offices in Harare and Bulawayo delivering work across Zimbabwe.<br /><br /> General specifications<br />1- Provide transportation services to British Council colleagues nationwide. The cities and locations will vary depending on business needs. This will include but no limited to:<br />a. Office, airport, and hotel transfers in Harare and Bulawayo <br />b. Short and long distance pick up and drop off in urban and remote areas.<br />c. Professional chauffeur services from time to time<br />d. Group transfers<br />e. Suitable and sufficient fleet to accommodate multiple trips in a busy environment.<br />f. Transportation of British council exams staff during sessions in Harare and Bulawayo<br />2- The overall purpose and aims of this service is to provide a safe, affordable and legally compliant service as per British Council health and safety standards.<br /><br />Expertise specification<br />a. The Service Provider will be liable for all shortcomings of third-party vehicles and drivers.<br />The Service Provider shall provide documentation demonstrating roadworthiness of its fleet. In addition to complying with government regulations regarding maintenance of the vehicles, the vehicles and the drivers to be used for the Services shall also conform to the norms set by BC transport department. The vehicles must also conform to emission standards set by the regulatory authorities in South Africa.<br />3- Maintain accurate receipts for each journey and vehicle, including names of passengers, time of pick-up, place of drop-off and time of drop off.<br /><br />4- The Service Provider shall bear all overheads associated with the vehicles used for Services i.e., all expenses, relating to fuel (diesel/petrol), maintenance costs of the vehicles, taxes, insurance, repair and spare costs, etc. British Council does not have any liability as regards such expenditure. <br />a. All drivers must have police clearance and PDP’s.<br />b. The service provider must have a detailed company safety policy that all drivers abide by <br />c. The Provider agrees to invoice the British Council for services in a timely manner, in line with British Council finance policies.<br />
