The purpose of this Prior Information Notice(PIN) is to notify the market of Barnsley Council’s potential re- commissioning of extra care provision at two of the four extra care schemes in Barnsley. The two schemes are: • Fitzwilliam Court, Bethel Street, Hoyland, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S74 9JZ • Westmeads, Meadstead Drive, Royston, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S71 4PT This notice is for information only and does not constitute a formal commencement of a procurement process. If Barnsley Council has formal agreement to proceed,tenders to be published end of July for a period of 4 weeks to allow mobilisation of a contract as soon as possible following that. Lot 1: The purpose of this Prior Information Notice(PIN) is to notify the market of Barnsley Council’s potential re- commissioning of extra care provision at two of the four extra care schemes in Barnsley. The model of extra care will be based on 24-hour access to support, including care staff operating during both daytime and night-time hours, and wellbeing offered during daytime hours. The service will be delivered by a single provider operating across both schemes. The service is primarily to adults aged 55 and over and who meet a set eligibility criterion. This includes adults who have assessed care and support needs associated with older age, including illness, disability, frailty and people living with dementia.Consideration is given to individuals under the age of 55, if extra care is suitable for meeting their specific needs. The aim of the Service is to enable people who lives may be restricted by disability, illness or frailty to receive the care and support they need, in a caring and safe environment, which maximises their independence and offers choice and opportunities to lead a fulfilling life.The two schemes are: • Fitzwilliam Court, Bethel Street, Hoyland, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S74 9JZ • Westmeads, Meadstead Drive, Royston, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, S71 4PT This notice is for information only and does not constitute a formal commencement of a procurement process.
