Tender description
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is acting as the Contracting Authority on a collaborative procurement to establish a Security Operating Centre (SOC) service on behalf of up to 21 other Welsh Public Sector bodies as listed in the Statement of Requirements as was contained in the ITT. A further competition has been conducted under the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) Cyber Security 3 Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). Lot 1: The CymruSOC project addresses the escalating risk of cyber-attacks on the public sector by providing a dedicated managed service provider to deliver cybersecurity services tailored to the needs of Local Authorities and Fire and Rescue Services in Wales. CymruSOC aims to enhance cyber resilience, readiness and visibility across Wales, supporting the “Defend as One” principle outlined in the 2022 UK National Cyber Strategy. By managing cyber security risks, detecting security events and minimizing the impact of cyber incidents, CymruSOC will strengthen the overall cyber resilience of its members. Additionally, the project aligns with the Welsh Government’s Cyber Action Plan, promoting cyber security awareness and skill development to build a thriving cyber economy. The Contracting Authority is in possession of an Award of Funding in relation to the Cymru Security Operations Centre to fund this requirement. The 21 Member Bodies are: Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, Flintshire County Council, Carmarthenshire County Council, Powys County Council, Pembrokshire County Council, Denbighshire County Council, Cygnor Sir Ynys Mon, Swansea Council, Wrexham County Borough Council, Caerphilly County Borough Council, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Vale of Glamorgan Council, Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council, Neath Port Talbot Council, Bridgend County Borough Council, Conwy County Borough Council, Gwynedd Council, Cardiff Council, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Mid and West Fire and Rescue Service. The contract will also be available to other public bodies in Wales.
