Tender description

A new Communicate programme will support individuals whose low levels of literacy and poor verbal communication skills act as a barrier to them accessing health care, being active members within their local communities, as well as progressing into/in employment. Key Actions and Objectives: This opportunity is to deliver under Intervention A. Intervention a) Engagement Activities These sessions, delivered for up to 3 hours per learner, will consist of meaningful discussion, activity or workshop in which providers will be supporting people to access provision which will develop their literacy skills. Identifying, where possible, clear progression routes into substantive learning activities through Communicate or the wider adult education offer to achieve the indicative indicators of the investment priority. Intervention a) Substantive Learning Aims - Courses designed to increase confidence with numbers for those needing the first steps towards formal numeracy qualifications. This includes using best practice to engage new learners such as a cross-agency / partnership approach, working with local employers (for example, to deliver in-work confidence building courses). We know that poor literacy skills can has a negative impact on the health and wellbeing of people within our county therefore we want to see local interventions that are innovative and engaging enabling the development of literacy and employability skills through everyday, relatable, context; and help boost an adult’s confidence to take the next step towards a qualification.
