St James's Hospital, Dublin, Ireland. The Falls and Syncope unit at St James’s Hospital is seeking to purchase a gait assessment mat. A gait assessment mat measures clinically relevant parameters of gait e.g. gait velocity and variability by recording the timing and location of foot pressure applied to the mat as a person walks along the mat. The device will be used in the characterisation of patients’ gait cycles to help: 1 determine the risk of falls as part of a comprehensive geriatric assessment, 2 response to clinical interventions, 3 establish a functional diagnosis and 4 monitoring of disease progression. Regulation and Standards Compliance: The system should be CE marked as a medical device, meet IEC60601 electrical safety standards.
