Teston Bridge Country Park Market Engagement Exercise

Kent County Council is seeking to engage with the market in regard to the potential provision of onsite catering at Teston Country Park. Teston Bridge Country Park is in the parish of Teston and in the district of Maidstone Borough Council. It has been owned by Kent County Council since 1970 and open as a Country Park since 1978. It has approximately 115,000 visitors per year, increasing annually. The site totals 32 acres (12.2 hectares) and is a mixture of amenity grassland, grazed wildflower meadows, woodland plantings, wetland habitat, riverside habitats, and hedgerows. The site provides free access to the public although there is a charge for car parking. The site is operated by Kent Country Parks Wardens, with the West Kent Ranger Team providing further maintenance and contract management as required. The on-site facilities include a pay and display car park, picnic areas, a playground, groundsman’s building with toilet facilities and sinks/basins. Catering onsite has long been established with seasonal facilities available for visitors. The current provision is currently provided by a temporary catering trailer. Water and electricity is provided. The Council would like to engage with interested parties to understand potential options and ideas for external catering provision on the existing footprint of 4 x 2m, located on hard standing at the entrance to the park.
