SSA_Festival Convening Partner in Sub-Saharan Africa

Through the Festival Connect Fund, we are also keen to create a space that contribute to convening festival managers across the region and contributing to key learning and networking opportunities to build a stronger festival management circuit and ecosystem, and a festival network more generally across the region.<br /><br />British Council Africa Arts is seeking a festival partner to design, deliver and convene a festival sector learning and gathering programme as part of the Festival Connect Fund. The proposed gathering will be co-developed with the British Council to support the success of the Festival Connect Fund through:<br />• Creating opportunities between festival peers in Africa and internationally that can lead to future creative collaboration, co-commissions, and partnership projects <br />• Supporting festival making and artistic expressions including community engagement during festivals that can lead to meaningful social and economic impact <br />• Providing space for experimentation with creative technology (digital festivals included) to develop new experiences <br />• build new cross-regional collaborations focused on access to market and the potential of festivals in bridging cultures in Africa and internationally <br />• improving the festival value chain including targeting tour-ready work and supporting professionalization of festival management through capacity-building<br />• supporting mobility for festivals directors, curators, and managers within Africa to support professional exchanges and development. <br />• developing data driven innovation and research into the festival sector across Africa – with the aim to inspire new innovations from creators in artistic work, audience experiences, or research products and services that use/generate data. <br />• Access to a network of festival managers across the region<br /><br />We are interested to work in partnership with a festival partner embedded in the sector in Africa to convene, catalyse and consult with the wider Festival organisations regionally and internationally.<br />
