Small Biogas Demonstration Programme

Tender description

The Irish Bioenergy Association (IrBEA) seeks expressions of interest from potential technology suppliers for the purposes of putting together a supplier framework panel, for the EIP-AGRI-funded Small Biogas Demonstration Programme (SBDP), and other publicly-funded projects. This panel will be used by farm recipients of the SBDP capital support in 2023 to procure provider(s) of their small-scale biogas plant technology. These sites are in the process of, or have received planning permission, with a view to having these facilities procured, constructed, commissioned, and operational in 2023. Whilst this is a demonstration project, the project has proven to date that there is significant interest and opportunity for this scale of biogas in Ireland. The objective of this project is to establish the level of capital support required to make this level of biogas production viable at a farm level. As of 2019/2020, the project has already undertaken a selection process to find suitable farms. A large number of farmer applications (260), who applied to an open call, expressed interest in being considered for the capital support grants. These applications were assessed at that time to find the most suitable demonstration farms. This technology supplier framework will be used to create a panel of technology providers to build these facilities in 2023.
