South Abingdon Art Trail: Community Engagement and Regeneration through the arts project - funded through UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

<p>It is proposed that a community led arts programme will be developed that results in a tangible experience such as an art and nature trail and include engagement programmes for the community. The project should link to interventions in the visitor economy, and / or improving green spaces. This project is specifically designed to address inequalities in opportunity and create a greater sense of place in the highest scoring ward of deprivation. We are seeking responses from artists/ arts organisations with experience of similar projects in scale and materials. Our chosen artist/ arts organisation will act as a lead artist and be responsible for the following aspects during the research and design phase; • explore possible artistic intervention within the public open spaces and key locations throughout the development; working closely with the district council and other partners to identify artistic enhancements and focal features. • Research specific stories through community engagement activities to identify the theme and specific locations of the artistic trail markers • lead on communication with local residents and stakeholders such as attending residents' meetings, and liaising with the developer and contractors to work on detailed technical aspects of the artwork • create or subcontract the creation of artwork • monitor, document and evaluative the project</p> Keywords: Artists, Community Engagement, Artist Agency
