Renovation of roof, Parish Community Hall, Midleton

Tender description

The Select Vestry of Cloyne Union seeks tenders under an open procedure for renovation of the roof of the Parish Community Hall in Midleton. The Parish Community Hall is a complex of flexible multi-use rooms that hosts a variety of community activities every week. It is located on Church Lane, Midleton, Co Cork, Ireland, P25 XC52. It is owned by the Church of Ireland parish of Cloyne Union, and is managed by the Select Vestry, which is the decision-making board of the parish. It was built in the 1830’s as a schoolhouse and teacher’s residence and extended to the rear in the 1930’s. As a protected structure (RPS No. 02515), the conservation office in Cork County Council will have to be advised of the programme of works before the project commences. The slate roof has suffered in recent winter storms and water ingress is damaging interior plasterwork. There is damage to lead valley gutters and lead flashing at the chimney. Some ridge tiles are damaged. Slates are slipping due to failure of nail fixings. This indicates that the roof needs comprehensive re-roofing. Lot 265691: Renovation of roof, Parish Community Hall, Midleton Renovation of the roof of the Parish Community Hall, including, but not limited to: • Supplying scaffolding. • Investigating and addressing the cause of leaks. • Renewal of the lead valley gutter and insertion of a lead flashing to the chimney. • Re-lathing and felting the entire roof. • Renewing the slate roof, re-using existing slates where possible; Cloyne Union is supplying replacement slates. • Removing and re-setting clay ridge tiles to the full length of the roof.Attached as document
