Tender description
Since April 15th 2023, a conflict erupted between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan Army Force in Khartoum, the capital city of Sudan, subsequently extending to the five states of Darfur. Given the highly centralized nature of systems in Sudan, the disruption had a profound impact, virtually halting the wheels of life and production. This upheaval created significant gaps in the supply chain, affecting the availability of essential goods and services across the entire country. Start-ups and small businesses, predominantly operated by young entrepreneurs, bore the brunt of the crisis. Many fell victim to looting or complete loss, while others faced the harsh reality of unemployment.

The Sudanese labour market is undergoing a noticeable downturn in employment opportunities, stemming from the suspension of operations in most factories, institutions, and both public and private companies in Khartoum. Consequently, emerging business owners find themselves grappling with a formidable crisis, yet they persist in their efforts to sustain or revive their ventures amidst challenging circumstances.

In response to the current situation, it is imperative to re-evaluate our approach to providing support and networking. This reassessment should align with the demands of the current stage, aiming to assist young individuals in overcoming and navigating the prevailing challenges effectively. The required form of support and networking involves establishing direct connections with banks, microfinance institutions, investors, organizations, entities, companies, and stakeholders, including Chambers of Commerce and license and facility donors, to facilitate the initiation or continuation of emerging businesses.

The overarching goal of this strategic support and networking initiative is to empower young people with innovative ideas and burgeoning businesses, enabling them to progress steadily. This, in turn, contributes to fostering positive change and growth at both a personal level and on a broader scale within the country. The ultimate aim is to enhance and facilitate the creation of improved job opportunities for the youth of Sudan. In navigating the multifaceted challenges of supporting young entrepreneurs and start-ups in a conflict-affected region like Sudan, this strategy takes into account the distinctive dynamics of the environment to ensure a comprehensive and effective approach.

The purpose of this consultancy service is to provide training for Sudanese youth to empower entrepreneurship in addition to developing networking skills and strategy through engagement events.
