Consultancy Services for Water Metering Installation at Dunmore East Fishery Harbour Centre, Co. Waterford

Tender description

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) requires the services of a consultancy firm with expertise in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering to prepare preliminary report, detailed design, tender documentation, works and handover stage for the Water Meter Installation Project at Dunmore East FHC: DAFM provides power and water services quayside on the piers and on the marinas/pontoons to be utilised by vessels in the harbour. Harbour users can purchase electricity using a pre-pay card system. There are two separate power systems currently in operation in the harbour; Emcom power boxes are on the fishing piers and Rolec Marina Service Pedestals are on the marinas and pontoons. The water usage of harbour users is not monitored at present. Water charges are billed through an annual charge that is determined on vessel size. Water is supplied by taps on the fishing piers and on the marinas and pontoons. The aim of the Water Meter Installation Project is to install a system where the water usage of harbour users can be measured and charged accordingly. This project is in line with DAFM overall objectives to reduce environmental impact of potential excessive water use. This project will provide an opportunity to make improvements in the harbour services, such as; Replace the outdated existing Emcom power boxes on the quayside; Replace 2 No. existing power systems with 1 No. smart water metering and power system for the whole harbour to enable harbour users to use a single pre-pay card to purchase electricity and water within the harbour.
