Gatsby Benchmarking performance within Ashfield schools and colleges identifies that several secondary schools within the district requires extra support in embedding quality and sustainable careers provision (through a package of careers-related programmes, activities, and events) within their school curriculum. This is to ensure students / parents / teachers are aware of the local employment opportunities, what the growing sectors are, and what current & future skills are needed to move into long term sustainable employment within the Ashfield district. Embedding quality careers provision will also support improvement of other quality and performance metrics within schools, such as: attainment levels, OFSTED grading, Key Stage 4 / 5 destinations, and reducing the number of students that are at risk of becoming NEET (not in employment, education, or training) post-secondary education.
