Tender description

Summary of the main requirements: This project relates to the installation of a new temporary Fish Handling Unit (FHU) at the Billingsgate Market site. Background information The Billingsgate tenants require immediate improvement facilities for the capacity of fresh fish that can be brought into the market. Fresh fish is brought into the market overnight by suppliers, where it is unloaded and (in the main) brought into a fish handling unit (FHU), before it is checked and then distributed to tenants around the market. The current FHU has limited capacity, allowing only one vehicle at a time to be unloaded and the facility quickly becomes full, leading to vehicles queuing on site and vehicles being unloaded in other areas around the market. The current arrangements create operational and safety issues for the market and leads to delay in product being made available for sale.
