Tender description

In preparation for the introduction of ‘twin-stream’ recycling at the kerbside in a series of eight phases during 2024 to 2025, the Council will shortly be seeking to undertake a mini-competition on Lot 1 of the DPS. The requirement will be for the Provision of Mixed Container Treatment Services with Haulage (from the Highland Council Area) for an approximately 5,600 tonnes per annum of material, with the first 3 phases of material coming online to the contract on 01/09/2024. The Council is aware there may be a new statutory duty imposed on Scottish Local Authorities as accounted for within the draft Circular Economy Bill to collect ‘flexibles and films’ at the kerbside from March 2027. As such, the proposed term of the Council’s Mixed Containers contract is for an initial period of 30 months, plus multiple extensions up to a maximum of 30 months.
