A Place Story for Torridge

As part of the preparation phase for the Levelling Up Partnership with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), Torridge District Council is seeking consultancy expertise to prepare a strong “Place Story” for Torridge. We are looking for assistance in demonstrating how Torridge can capitalise on its emerging world-class strengths, recognising the fast changing nature of our urban and rural economies, and address the significant challenges that have hindered the fortunes of the District and the communities within it. We anticipate that the production of a Place Story will help the District take advantage of its growing leadership in emerging sectors such as Clean Maritime, Clean Energy and Agri Innovation, while clearly demonstrating how sustainable and inclusive growth in Torridge can make a positive impact on the four metrics of the Levelling Up Partnership, benefit our communities and other areas of the UK, in particular, other areas which are targeted by the Levelling Up Agenda. The Place Story should be dynamic enough to be able to respond to a rapidly evolving policy agenda, supporting our efforts to set an ambitious pathway for long-term change towards a more sustainable and prosperous future. The outputs of this work will be used in funding discussions with the government, engagement with potential investors, and it will be the basis of the district’s Levelling Up Partnership negotiations and serve as a framework for cooperation between national government, local leadership and the private sector in Torridge.
