Request for Information: Supply of book cradle scanner up to AO format, AO wide format printer and image capture for the Records Branch of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine

The Minister for Agriculture Food and the Marine as successor in title to the former Irish Land Commission holds the historical records relating to the activities of that organisation. These records are currently held at the Departments records storage facility in Clonminam Business Park, Portlaoise, Co Laois, Ireland R32 Y033. Colour copies of certain documents held including maps requiring high definition images are issued on request to those entitled to view them which includes the owners of the land, their legal representative and other state agencies. The model of service delivery currently employed is that of providing hard copies of the documents which vary in sizes from A4 to AO. These historical records are irreplaceable and fragile in nature and require careful handling and treatment when being scanned/copied. A number of the key search aid registers, held in large book format, have to be scanned and the information captured must be searchable thereafter. With this Request for Information the Department wishes to gain an understanding of the most appropriate scanning and printing options available to meet our specific needs and to inform the development of an RFT in due course.
