Social Prescribing Garden Project

Tender description

Cardiff City and South Cluster encompasses 6 GP practices, with a combined registered population of circa 41,000. Through use of Welsh Government Funding, this cluster is seeking to establish a social prescribing project focused on the use of gardening to improve the health and wellbeing of patients in their local area. Through use of a social prescribing approach, the practices feel that their patients will experience the following benefits: • Social interaction - reducing the impact of social isolation. • Sense of purpose - improving levels of self-resilience, confidence and independence • Exercise - improving general levels of mental and physical health. In terms of benefits to the GP Practices, it is believed that access to this scheme could provide a more appropriate intervention for patients who do not require clinical intervention via GP Practice.
