Tender description
Short Breaks is a statutory service which gives young people an opportunity to socialise outside of their home life, at the same time as offering their parent/carers a break to relax. A Short Break includes things such as after school clubs, activities in the community, family events and project groups. The overarching aim of Short Breaks is for young disabled people to access services that enable them to reach their full potential and be provided with opportunities to take part in unforgettable activities and develop vitals skills, while giving their families a chance to rest from caring duties. Short breaks give disabled children and young people the opportunity to have an enjoyable experience that helps them to become more independent and form friendships outside of their family, developing their role in ordinary life and preparing for adulthood.?The local authority has a vital role in ensuring that appropriate short breaks are commissioned in the local area.?? Wirral Council’s vision for the future of the short breaks service is to be able to offer an alternative delivery model which ensures that the short breaks service reaches more children and families, provides greater value for money, and prevents potential crisis and family breakdown. We are looking for existing community organisations to provide inclusive activities for children with disabilities, in local areas where children and young people live. This could be a range of different providers coming together to offer a fresh and innovative service to the children and families who need it. Keywords: Short Breaks
