Tender description

Lockhouses were originally built as residences for lockkeepers who manned the operation of canal locks along the length of the Royal and Grand Canals. Waterways Ireland is responsible for over 50 lockhouses across its navigations. Today, these buildings have enormous potential to take on new roles that reflect the changing use of and relationship to the canals, while protecting the heritage that surround them. Waterways Ireland is seeking consultancy services to conduct an analysis of future use options, an architectural conservation assessment, action plan and costings to guide and inform the sustainable restoration and re-use of the Omer Lockhouse along the Grand Canal in South County Dublin.
