Tender description
The Contract is for the refurbishment of Council Play Parks as part of the 4th phase of the Council’s ‘out to play’ strategy; including: -Larne Town Park, Larne – Including but not limited to; Contractor Designed Works New contractor designed, concrete formed skate park to be created on greenfield site complete with associated obstacles, quarter pipes, metal copings, curbs, hubba/ledges, flat areas, grind rails, ramps etc. (refer to concept drawings attached). The design and installation of the wheeled sports area is to comply with the requirements of BSEN14974:2019 and BSEN1176. A post installation inspection is to be carried out on completion to ensure compliance, with any defects or non-conformances to be rectified by the contractor prior to acceptance by the Council. The design of the facility should take account of the recommendations within SkateboardGB document ‘Design and Development Guidance for Skateboarding’ and RoSPA document ‘Prevention of Skateboarding Accidents and Litigation Management. The park will cater for all wheel disciplines, age and skill levels. The wheeled sports area will be constructed from insitu sprayed smooth concrete and will have all joints sealed and level. Modular ramp systems, whether manufactured from timber, metal, concrete or other materials WILL NOT be acceptable and the submission will be rejected. All coping/grindable edges are to be minimum galvanised steel. Levels to be set to ensure natural run-off of rainwater. No gulleys/drainage channels are to be installed in areas where the wheeled sports have been designed to take place. No ponding of water will be accepted. Where structures have a potential fall height of more than 600mm, other than the areas designed for wheeled sports to take place, guarding is to be provided to prevent falls. ICT Designed Works Works also includes cutting back overhanging trees, creation of bitmac access paths, fencing, street furniture and drainage.
