Cardiff and Vale Health Board would like to purchase a Jet Ventilator for the use in thoracic surgery and also ENT/Head and Neck surgery. This specialised equipment is required to maintain the airway of the patient and efficient lung ventilation whilst still enabling the surgical team access to complete what is required. A jet ventilator is such a type of equipment. Therefore, the Health Board are proposing to award the purchase of the jet ventilator to CLS Medical who are the only supplier to have this equipment with the CE Marking for sale in the UK. The twinstream jet ventilator is a specialized piece of equipment, the Health Board believe that CLS Medical are the only supplier with this type of jet ventilator on the current UK market which has been deemed as suitable and has CE marking readily available to purchase in the UK currently. Therefore, the Health Board are proposing to award the purchase of the jet ventilator to the sole Supplier CLS Medical.
