Prior to commencing a formal procurement process and to help inform our final requirement and procurement strategy, Leidos Supply Ltd, on behalf of the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), would like to inform the market of this potential upcoming requirement in order to establish the likely level of interest and to identify further opportunities and any additional considerations, before engaging in market and supplier research with interested companies. The scope of the requirement is for an individual field cooking system, which comprises of a small and lightweight portable cooker and associated solid / gel fuel, to enable British Armed Forces personnel to cook individual field rations in remote outdoor locations and in all weather conditions. Please refer to the more detailed specification provided below. Lot 1: The scope of the requirement is for an individual field cooking system, which comprises of a small and lightweight portable cooker and associated solid / gel fuel (that is not hexamine based and is able to ignite after being fully submerged in water), to enable British Armed Forces personnel, using their mess tins, to boil water for drinks and heat individual field ration retort pouches in remote outdoor locations and in all weather conditions, and to do so on multiple occasions. The cooking system should be able to be safely transported by all transport modes (including air) in bulk quantity and shall a minimum shelf life of 2 years.
