Chapelcross Strategic Development Framework

Tender description

1.1 Dumfries and Galloway Council is working closely alongside its partners South of Scotland Enterprise, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, the site owner and the site operators Magnox to ensure a sustainable economic legacy is delivered for the 210 + hectare, former nuclear power station site at Chapelcross. 1.2 The future of Chapelcross is centred on clean energy generation, storage, distribution, research and use with a particular focus on renewable hydrogen production. Renewable hydrogen will play a significant role in our energy transition to net zero, with site acting as a Regional Hydrogen Energy Hub for the South of Scotland. Contract for Chapel Cross Strategic Development Framework to produce a comprehensive framework which will guide the regeneration of Chapel Cross over a 15-year period. It should be noted that Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal funded infrastructure should be designed, constructed, commissioned and operating with all necessary authorisations and permissions by 2031, though the land horizon for other elements can be longer.
