Tender description

The photonic Packaging Group at the Tyndall National Institute is seeking to purchase equipment that will enable the 3D printing of spherical, aspherical, freeform and compound micro-optical elements on both optical fibers and photonic integrated circuits (PICs). The Photonic 3D printing system will be a key enabler for advanced photonics packaging research and will have applications in communications, life-science and critically, quantum computing, where such micro-optics can solve critical manufacturing challenges. The Contracting Authority has chosen to use the Accelerated Open Procedure. The justification for use of this procedure is that funding underpinning the financing of the project draws to a close by the end of November 2023.
