Cafe and Catering Concession Services for the National Library

The Library requires an experienced café/ catering concession supplier with proven experience working within a visitor centre or high-end commercial retail sector to operate a café and provide catering as a concession contract for the Library in its main Edinburgh premises on George IV Bridge, Edinburgh. The National Library of Scotland seeks to appoint an experienced café / catering supplier with proven experience working within a cultural, arts or top end commercial retail sector. The quality for services and goods on offer should reflect the Library standards of excellence, continually identifying improvements and delivering a consistently high standard of customer service. The supplier’s offer should demonstrate a commitment to modern café menu trends. The Library will be 100 years old in 2025. The centenary will be marked by a programme of events, events, and big legacy projects, many of which we expect the supplier to take a vital role in supporting. The Library’s Visitor Centre has recently been awarded a 4-star Visitor Attraction grading from VisitScotland. We aim to maintain or increase this star rating at our next accreditation visit and would expect the supplier to work closely with Library representatives to achieve this. As part of our ongoing relationship with VisitScotland, there is also an opportunity for the supplier to apply for the Taste Our Best award. Along with passing trade, the café currently serves existing and new users of the reading rooms, Library staff, exhibition visitors and event attendees. The supplier shall always, provide a high-quality service, to the satisfaction of the National Library of Scotland.
