Tender description

RSPB Cymru is looking to appoint a contractor to deliver peatland restoration works. The Site is part of Migneint–Arenig–Dduallt SAC/SPA and is designated in part for blanket bog habitats. The blanket bog is currently in the process of drying out due to historical land drainage, peat cutting, over grazing and burning of the Site. The aim of the works is to re-wet the bog and increase the existing water levels of the blanket bog so that active peat accumulation can occur. In creating wet areas we will also be providing habitat for breeding curlew, golden plover, a range of specialist invertebrates and plants. The ‘Site’ is located to the south east of Ysbyty Ifan. Approx grid ref SH798465. The Site is owned partially by National Trust and partially by the Crown Estate. The Site is grazed by a tennant. Restoration work commenced in January 2023 and the Site is partially restored.
