Many Children Looked After will have experienced significant trauma, often over a long period of time throughout their early lives. The ability of children to develop positive attachments with others, a sense of their own identity, and a sense of safety is very likely to have been impacted by their early childhood experiences. Care experienced young people often need additional support from their caregivers and other professionals to enable them to thrive and to promote their emotional, and mental health and wellbeing. Whilst CAMHS provides assessment and treatment for clinically diagnosable mental health disorders, for children and young people in Wirral, including Children Looked After.
