Recycling and Treatment of Kerbside Collected Paper and Card

North Lanarkshie Council is responsible for the receipt, segregation, recycling, treatment and disposal of paper and card collected from residents via its kerbside refuse collection service. Circa 10,000 tonnes of paper and card is collected via the council’s kerbside collection service for recycling annually. The Kerbside collected paper and card collection service is one of several services offered and operated by the Council and compliments the weekly domestic kerbside collection services and Household Waste Recycling Centres, (HWRC), that are strategically located throughout the North Lanarkshire area. It is anticipated that circa 10,000 tonnes of Paper and Card is collected from the Council’s kerbside collection service for recycling annually.. The paper and card waste stream represents a significant proportion of the total household waste arisings of the Council. The Council requires a service provider to receive, treat, process and recycle the Councils collected paper and card waste in accordance with all statutory guidance and legislation as specified by the Council. The procurement of the required contract has been conducted as a mini competition from the Scotland Excel Dynamic Purchasing System for Treatment & Disposal of Recyclable & Residual, Lot 2 - Paper, Cardboard, News & PAMs (separate and/or mixed).
