Occupation of the Catalyst building is split between Newcastle University employees and occupants from other organisations. The building is also used outside of normal working hours, with regular evening and weekend events. As such it is not a ‘normal’ University building in terms of occupancy and activity. This mixed occupancy and extended operation presents challenges in terms of building management. The services required generally comprise front-of-house services to support the occupiers and visitors to the building, and also acting as the conduit to University’s incumbent systems used to operate and maintain the building, to resolve tenant issues and host engagement activities for the businesses co-located in the building.
