Maitland Park Play Area

Tender description

Cardiff Council intends to appoint an appropriate landscape contractor to undertake environmental improvements to the play area at Maitland Park, Gabalfa, Cardiff. The site lies to the North West of Gabalfa. On the east and west sides of the site lies residential properties. To the south of the site is St Joseph’s RC Primary School. To the north of the site lies Maitland park, beyond which are residential properties. The site comprises of a small playground set within a park. The southern boundary of the site comprises of a high stone wall. There is a northern entrance into the park from the highway. The park is not locked and has open access. The proposed works comprise of the removal of the existing play equipment, seats, bins, and safety surfaces. The proposals are for the creation of a play area with seating. The construction of the play area will reduce the expanse of tarmac with safety surfacing and wildflower meadows. Due to the proximity of the adjacent mature trees, the works will be undertaken in a method that protects the roots of the trees.
