Tender description

The sewerage system on the Island is a mixture of combined and separated foul and surface water (SW) sewers. The combined sewers are concentrated in and around St. Helier where the sewers are older, with the rest of the island served by newer separate systems. Currently the foul and SW drainage systems in the Beach Road area discharge into an existing 1370 x 910 brick culvert which acts as a combined foul and surface water sewer. The inclusion of surface water flows into this combined system increases the overall flow in the sewers, leading to an increased treated costs at the STW and takes up capacity of the sewerage system. Separating the surface water and foul systems will improve surface water management in the Beach Road area. This scheme will involve constructing a new surface water drainage system which will collect surface water and discharge it directly into the open section of the Baudrette Brook SW culvert.
