Single Front Door for Volunteering

The aim of the Volunteering Service is to provide a core package of specialist volunteering services which support events and widen participation and social action in Wirral. This will strengthen support for the residents who are looking to enter volunteering and provide a co-ordinated approach to volunteering in the borough. A central organisation to support volunteering is needed for Wirral to support individuals looking to volunteer and organisations to involve volunteers. Encouraging volunteering within Wirral will improve people’s health and wellbeing, will enable more social connection, increase community spirit, and enhance people’s feelings of purpose and belonging. The provider will actively seek out and recruit volunteers and volunteering opportunities to support the development of a single front door for volunteering in the borough. They will provide a single referral route and support mechanisms for local volunteering, ensuring that volunteers provide value added roles and are not used as a substitute for paid staff. The service will support the development of volunteer support networks for all supervisors/managers of volunteers to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills needed to support volunteers. There will be also be a programme of accredited training for those wishing to gain a certified qualification and a volunteer passport scheme which will support volunteers on their journey.
