Tender description

Final restoration of Phase 1 (i.e. Cells 1 and 2) of Ballaghveny Landfill and associated infrastructure and remedial action. TCC is inviting tenders for the design and installation of a permanent impermeable engineered landfill cap for Phase 1 of the landfill and associated infrastructure and remedial actions. The project details include the following: 1. Decommission and grout 4No. combined leachate monitoring and gas extraction wells from within Phase 1 (LM01/LFG01, LM02/LFG03, LM03/LFG06, LM04/LFG07) 2. Design and install 4No. new combined leachate monitoring and gas extraction wells to replace the decommissioned wells (in Item 1 above) along with 1No. new leachate-only monitoring well. 3. Existing gas-extraction wells (3No. - LFG02, LFG04, LFG05) to be retained and upgraded for incorporation into the new cap 4. Investigations will be required to determine the base of the waste within Phase 1 of landfill (in the vicinity of the new well locations) prior to drilling any new wells. 5. Design and install two new groundwater monitoring wells (one ca. 30m to the east and one ca. 475m to the south) 6. Optimization of the existing gas management system and their ancillary pipework 7. Design, tenders, construction supervision and certification of the capping of Phase 1 (i.e. Cells 1 and 2) and associated infrastructure and remedial actions such as but not limited to the existing: a. site roads b. landfill gas wells / leachate wells and pipelines (above and below ground) c. surface water d. telemetry infrastructure e. powerlines (above and below ground), etc. 8. Preparation of Specified Engineering Works (SEW) for the EPA in respect of the various works to the waste licence for this site.
