The site contains a blend of commercial and residential properties with a row of shops and a row of mill cottages facing onto an open paved area. Shop customers and goods vehicles currently use the paved area as informal parking. The site is enclosed to the north and east by Horn Drive and to the South by a PSNI station. The redevelopment of the open paved area is central to proposals. Informal parking measures pose a danger to pedestrians and gives visitors a negative perception of the area. In order to improve safety of the environment and functionality of the site the Scope of works is to deliver Environmental Improvements to address the current issues while also enhancing the appearance to regenerate the area. This includes provision of parking, replacement and refurbishment of elements of the streetscape such as paving and street furniture and reconfiguration to provide private gardens to each of the 6 Woodbourne cottages.
